Koya

Joshua Tree, California

Welcome to Koya – a serene desert escape inspired by Japanese philosophy and design, located amidst the natural wonders of Joshua Tree.

Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that celebrates the beauty of imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity. It embraces flaws, aging, and the marks of time as symbols of authenticity and character.

The space

The fusion of wabi-sabi and Joshua Tree can be seen in the way that guests appreciate the natural beauty and imperfections of the park’s landscapes. Visitors to Joshua Tree often seek out the park’s unique and rugged features, such as the twisted and weathered Joshua trees, and appreciate the way that nature has shaped and molded the landscape over time.

This appreciation aligns with Koya and the wabi-sabi philosophy, both valuing muted tones and the natural patina of aging, viewing them as evidence of a rich history and a connection to nature, a theme carried from the moment you open the front gate and gaze at the home until you step through the front door.

Upon entering Koya you are greeted with a large tri-folding door acting as a collapsable gateway to the outside world, a fully stocked kitchen, and open living room. The fully stocked kitchen with hand selected details is an ideal place to experience the fusion of light, smells, taste, and relaxing views – a complete sensory experience.

Koya is a two bedroom, one bathroom open concept home that sleeps 4 comfortably. Perfect for a couple, two couples, or a small family. Both rooms are uncluttered, with furniture that has an aged patina and a handcrafted feel.

The primary bedroom has a luxurious and ultra comfortable king size bed with direct access to the bathroom. The bathroom features a large walk in shower with dual shower heads, custom fixtures, and high end finishes. The second bedroom is ultra spacious with a plush queen bed and plenty of room for your personal items.

The fusion of wabi-sabi and Joshua Tree highlights the beauty of the natural world and encourages people to connect with the environment in a meaningful and authentic way.
